Not all visitors to the
country seek rest and relaxation. Some are keen to test their skills and try a
new activity. If
you fit this category
you'll find a wide range of energetic pursuits awaiting
you. Bushwalking,
birdwatching, wildlife viewing,
cycling, tennis, swimming, fishing and boating are all available on the property
... whilst National Park enthusiasts will find the Cathedral Range State Park
just across the road ... and mountain bikes on their verandahs to make exploring
it more enjoyable.
| Those
after a truly unique experience may venture out of the ordinary by accompanying
some of Kingbilli's Llamas on a leisurely trek through
the shaded trails of our private wildlife sanctuary. |

creatures are not merely four-legged

In their saddlebags they carry hampers containing a delicious al fresco luncheon
or that special hilltop supper for two. More
challenging activities such as abseiling, rock-climbing and white-water rafting
are provided under the ever-watchful eye of Geoff |

of the Australian Adventure Experience. Further afield, at Mansfield, hot-air
ballooning - complete with champagne breakfast - can be found. Those
wishing to view the world from the above by more conventional means may prefer
a scenic flight with Eildon Airlines. Horse
riding - always a favourite - is available nearby also, at Rubicon Valley Horseriding
Centre, just 15 minutes drive away. |

The operators are patient,
experienced, and have horses to suit all levels of riding ability. Dedicated
fishermen will be delighted to discover the renowned Goulburn Valley Fly Fishing
Centre is only minutes away at Thornton.

Guides, David Pickering,
Geoff Hall and Antony Boliancu are always happy to assist, with a range of great
packages for you to enjoy. They
welcome both experienced and beginner fly-fishers, but bookings are essential
as this is a particularly popular sport. Skiers
are catered for also, with first-rate cross-country skiing and tobogganing available
at Lake Mountain and downhill skiing and snowboarding at Mt. Buller. |
|
| If
less exhausting exercise is more your style, the gently undulating fairways of
the Marysville golf course will surely appeal
as will a quiet wander through
the Mystic Mountain rainforests
or perhaps a picnic beside Steavensons
Falls. To make
this even easier, the 'Marysville Forest Walks Trail Guide" - available from
the Visitor Information Centre - lists seven walks for you to consider, with walking
times | |
|
| ranging
from 40 minutes to a full day. Marysville
Village, with its 1920s atmosphere, has long been regarded as a magical place.
The locals are warm and welcoming and visitors cannot fail to be enchanted by
its collection of galleries, potteries, craft and coffee shops, restaurants and
bakery. If you're
a sweet tooth, Uncle Fred's & Aunty Val's Lolly Shop is a must, and art-lovers
will be captivated by Bruno's Sculpture |

Garden. Simply check

Snobs Creek Hatchery and
Eildon are also great spots to visit. Hiring
a picnic barge to explore the many secluded inlets around the shores of Lake Eildon
is a particularly pleasant way to while away the afternoon. And for those preferring
a faster pace, ski-boats are available for hire also. Alternatively,
should the charms of a larger vessel beckon, then perhaps |

experiencing the splendour
and majesty of Lake Eildon - six times the size of Sydney Harbour - aboard the
MV Eildon Explorer may be more enticing. Once again, bookings for this are essential. Wine
buffs will find wineries - some with excellent restaurants
overlooking their vineyards - within easy driving distance, in just about any
direction. We're
often asked if children are welcome at Kingbilli ...
and yes, of course they are. Families will find a range of fun things for their
youngsters to do (see the families page for more details),
including our own eco-education program, Pouch Professors,
designed to give 7-14 year olds an insight into the lives of those unique Australian
animals, the Marsupials.
| |
| And on the way home,
particularly if you have children, a wander through the beautiful Healesville
Sanctuary is the perfect way to end your holiday! |
