Developed in Japan, shiatsu is a finger-pressure technique using traditional acupuncture points. Similar to acupressure shiatsu unblocks the flow of life energy & restores balance in the meridians & organs in order to promote self-healing. With the client reclining, the practitioner applies pressure with the finger, thumb, palm, elbow, or knee to specific zones on the skin located along the energy meridians. The treatment brings about a sense of relaxation while stimulating blood & lymphatic flow.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with only the area being worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, & tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The benefits of Swedish massage include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, & improved circulation, which assists healing & reduces swelling from injury.

Indian Head Massage is a treatment based on old Ayurvedic techniques involving work on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp & face. A variety of massage movements are used to relieve accumulated tension, stimulate circulation & restore joint movement. IHM also aids the condition & health of hair, particularly when combined with natural organic oils. IHM relaxes & rejuvenates, helping to reduce stress & fatigue, whilst increasing mental clarity.

AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE

The use of essential oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, & roots) in body & skin care treatments is known as aromatherapy. Used as a healing technique for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Greeks & Romans, essential oils aid relaxation, improve circulation & help heal wounds. Aromatherapy diffusers are utilized to fill the massage room with the scent of the oils. Specific essential oils are blended by the aromatherapist & added to a carrier oil, such as almond oil, to be used during the massage. Each oil has its own unique characteristics & benefits. Incorporated with a combination of Swedish & Shiatsu Massage.
